Forestry - Timber in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté
- 3rdregion in France in terms of forest cover
- 1.73million hectares of woodland
Bourgogne-Franche-Comté counts among France’s most wooded regions. Woodlands are sources of economic wealth through the exploitation of timber as a material and as an energy source.
The entire supply chain can be found in the region: woodland management, timber harvesting, transport, processing and implementation in the building industry, indoor and outdoor development, packing and packaging, etc. Houses, furniture, packaging, energy production and miscellaneous objects can all come from Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. Sawmills and processing businesses plus timber construction firms make up nearly half of the jobs in the sector.
