French Tech Bourgogne-Franche-Comté becomes the French Tech capital of 2024!
Following the recommendations of the innovation finance group French Tech Finance Partners, the Secretary of State for Digital Affairs, Marina Ferrari, and the French Tech Mission are launching the “French Tech Capital of the Year” initiative to increase visibility and accelerate funding for startups across the regions. The winner of the 2024 edition, French Tech Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, will highlight the industrial startup sector, involving the 16 other French Tech Capitals in this dynamic effort.
French Tech Bourgogne-Franche-Comté becomes the French Tech Capital of the Year 2024
The title was awarded by a selection committee composed of key figures from the French Tech ecosystem nationwide: Marie Adeline-Peix (Bpifrance), Jérôme Berger (Orange Ventures), Clara Chappaz (French Tech Mission), Maud Franca (Banque des Territoires), and Maya Noël represented by Flavia Roland (France Digitale). The project presented by the French Tech Bourgogne-Franche-Comté team stood out for its coherence, based on a dynamic local ecosystem that embodies strong daily ambitions for tech.
Numerous initiatives and meetings are planned for the 2024 edition of the French Tech Capital of the Year: encounters with investors, events showcasing French Tech 2030 and French Tech Next40/120 startups in the region, production of a video series presenting the Tech ecosystem of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and its assets, French Tech Tremplin announcements…

Bourgogne-Franche-Comté has distinguished itself through exemplary cooperation between public and private stakeholders. The tech ecosystem in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté includes over 400 startups (including 150 member startups and 50 member partners) and 5 totem sites (Village by CA in Dijon; TEMIS Technopole in Besançon; 25 rue Gambetta in Mâcon; INKUB in Nevers; and Mattern Lab in Northern Franche-Comté), as well as a network of excellent accelerators and incubators (DECA-BFC, Propulseur, Toaster Lab, les Docks numériques, INOBYZ, Village by CA, etc.).
Such a tech ecosystem, combined with a rich industrial heritage, creates a fertile ground for industrial startups. They can particularly rely on numerous local assets: technical skills, exceptional competitiveness clusters (Nuclear Valley, Pôle Véhicule du Futur, Polymeris, PMT-Pôle des microtechniques, etc.), research infrastructure, and networks of established companies. This is evidenced by the recent establishments of ŸNSECT in Dole (French Tech Next40/120), ITEN in Chalon-sur-Saône (French Tech Next40/120), INOCEL (French Tech 2030), H2SYS in Belfort (French Tech 2030), SINTERMAT in Montbard (French Tech 2030), and JIMMY in Le Creusot (French Tech 2030).
