An ecosystem dedicated to the biotherapies of tomorrow
The Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region has everything it takes to be a major player in this sector. For several years now, it has been developing an ecosystem that enables it to claim a prime position at national and European level, thanks to long-standing, recognized players:
- Leading research laboratories such as RIGHT, CTM, ICMUB, ICB, EpiLab, LabEx Lipstic for the development of new biomedicines, and FEMTO-ST for biomanufacturing equipment,
- Facilities such as CLIPP, the biomonitoring platform, the cancer biology transfer platform, and the preclinical imaging and radiotherapy platform.
- The Pôle d’Innovation en BioThérapies (PIBT), an industrial integrator led by EFS BFC and involving the Dijon and Besançon university hospitals, their clinical investigation centers and the Georges-François Leclerc Cancer Center, supports the maturation of biomedical projects through to clinical phase production.
- Structures dedicated to the transfer of research and the emergence of start-ups (SAYENS, Déca-BFC, Bionovéo),
- A network of leading companies
- Training courses from level III to university degrees, including the INTHERAPI graduate school for training through research,
- A favorable regional environment thanks to the strong involvement of local authorities, notably the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, Dijon Métropole and Grand Besançon Métropole, which fund support structures (Regional Agency, competitiveness clusters…)
Companies and start-ups involved in biotherapies (non-exhaustive)
- Drug developers: ABTX, ADHARA (GROUPE URGO), ADVESYA, CARLA BIOTHERAPEUTICS, MED’INN PHARMA, ONCODESIGN PRECISION MEDICINE, VETOQUINOL
- Equipment suppliers: ARDPI BIOTECH, CELLAVEN, CELLQUEST, MACOPHARMA, GILSON PLASTICS
- Solution providers: BIOMNIGENE, CHEMATECH, DIACLONE, LYMPHOBANK, NEXIDIA, ONCODESIGN SERVICES, RD BIOTECH, SMALTIS, SON
- Service providers: ALCIS, CISTEO MEDICAL, ICTA, STATICE
A network of partners to support companies
- PMT – A competitiveness cluster since 2005, the PMT (formerly the Pole des microTechniques) federates the region’s healthcare technology sector, based on excellence in microtechnology. It structures the local medtech sector on the one hand, and biotech, pharma and biomanufacturing on the other. It supports the PMT Santé cluster and the Propulseur start-up gas pedal. PMT is a partner of France Biolead and France Biotech, AIS, Polepharma and Medicen.
- Santenov – SANTENOV’s mission is to federate, embody and reinforce the visibility and attractiveness of Dijon’s healthcare ecosystem; and to encourage the emergence and development of innovative products and services to meet healthcare challenges. Santenov is a partner of Polepharma and Leem.
- BFCare – The BFCare cluster brings together manufacturers in the healthcare sector based in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. Its missions include facilitating the emergence of cooperative ventures and synergies between network members, promoting the exchange of best professional practices, and fostering partnerships with the academic world.
Set up in Dijon in 2008, it brings together public and private partners with complementary skills and equipment. Its aim is to evaluate biomarkers capable of monitoring treatment efficacy and selecting more active molecules, using medical imaging technologies. Pharm’Image has a coherent set of functional and molecular imaging technologies (MRI, PET, SPECT, CT), both on a small animal scale for preclinical experiments and on a human scale for clinical phases. |

- The Santenov technology park and its Campus#2 building, the future totem of health in Dijon
The AER BFC supports you
Béatrice JOLY, Health Industries and Technologies Project Manager, will be your main contact within the AER BFC for any development or establishment project. With 20 years’ experience in economic development, she has been supporting the structuring of the health sector in Burgundy-Franche-Comté for the past 5 years. Thanks to her knowledge of the regional ecosystem (companies and economic players in the sector) and the specificities of companies, medical devices and pharma biotech (regulations, market access, subcontracting, etc.), she will be able to assist you in the various stages of your project:
- Financial engineering,
- Search for land and business real estate,
- Search for industrial partnerships in R&D.
Events dedicated to biotherapies and biomanufacturing in BFC
Besançon hosts the annual Innovative Therapies Days, bringing together the world’s leading players in the development, production and regulatory oversight of innovative therapies.
Clinicians, scientists and industrial partners present their latest scientific advances in the development of CAR-T cells, stem cells or pluripotent cells, their transfer to clinical trials and the challenges of industrial production.
This wide range of players, academic and private, local and international, also provides a vision of the use of innovative therapies in tomorrow’s medicine. The “Innovative Therapies Days” will feature an exhibitors’ village, B2B sessions and discussion forums.
Biotherapies and Biomanufacturing Conference
(Assises des Biothérapies et de la bioproduction)
The Region has set itself the objective of co-constructing a strategic roadmap for the development of the regional biotherapies and biomanufacturing sector, by organizing a conference and a discussion forum with players in the sector.
Following the 1st edition, held on March 13 in Dijon, which brought together over a hundred participants, including researchers, clinicians, industrialists and support structures, a series of 8 workshops were held to gather and structure the views of these players. A second edition of the Assises was organized on September 24 as a feedback event, with the presentation of the regional roadmap setting out the sector’s ambitions.
The Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, with its many academic and industrial assets, has thus created a strategic framework to support and develop the region’s biotherapies and biomanufacturing sector.
