The AER BFC is recruiting a project officer – local economic development (Department 39)
Job Description
The Regional Economic Agency of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (AER BFC) supports two key stakeholders: businesses (primarily in the industrial sector, industrial services, and start-ups) and local territories.
As part of the Economic Development and Business Attraction division, your mission will be to:
- Provide local support to business leaders throughout the various phases of the company lifecycle (set-up, growth, operations, difficulties, etc.);
- Maintain strong and ongoing relationships with local authorities to stay informed of their economic development projects and coordinate their initiatives with the regional economic landscape;
- Contribute to local economic engagement alongside the Regional Council.
This role represents a real opportunity for a motivated individual who wants to play an active part in the economic development of the Jura region. You will join a committed and dynamic team within a human-sized agency that is well-known and respected across Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.
Missions
Meet with public and private stakeholders in the territory (frequent travel required), and participate in both individual and group meetings to stay engaged with local developments and key milestones.
Promote the Agency’s business support services by:
- Supporting newly created or fast-growing companies, particularly innovative start-ups and industrial businesses with high development potential;
- Advising business leaders through all stages of their company’s lifecycle (creation, transfer, expansion, transformation);
- Identifying needs and proposing tailored solutions (connecting with relevant partners, access to public and private funding, etc.);
- Recommending the most appropriate public funding mechanisms (repayable advances, grants, venture capital, honor loans, guarantee funds, etc.) and assisting with application procedures when needed.
Support local territories by:
- Promoting collaboration across regional economic development policies in coordination with local intermunicipal authorities and the Region;
- Working closely with communities of municipalities in the Jura area;
- Responding to business project requirements (identifying available land or buildings, partners, subcontractors, etc.) and proposing viable local solutions;
- Contributing to the identification and promotion of public and private economic real estate offerings;
- Participating in events, committees, and strategic economic meetings within the Agency’s area of operation.

Education/Experience
Minimum two-year post-secondary degree (Bac +2) in a field related to industry. Ideally, the candidate will have similar experience in another agency, company, or consulting firm. A strong understanding of industrial and technological sectors is expected. Prior professional experience is a plus, as is familiarity with the economic landscape of the Jura region.

- Ability to support businesses through comprehensive project analysis (strategy, skills, financials, business model, market characteristics, etc.)
- Basic understanding of corporate finance (balance sheets, income statements)
- Capable of leading technical meetings with partners
- Proficient in office tools, digital tools, and IT systems
