The Regional Economic Agency of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (AER BFC) is proud to partner in the Challenge Plan Bois, an innovative call for projects led by the Parc national de forêts and co-funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty and the Ministry of Ecological Transition.
Adding New Value to Local Hardwoods
Our region is rich in hardwoods with unique characteristics: small diameters, heterogeneous coloring, knots, insect galleries, and secondary species. Although often excluded from traditional markets, these woods represent an abundant yet underutilized local resource. The Challenge Plan Bois aims to give them a new life through creativity and innovation.
Two Challenges to Tackle:
- Creative Design: Create everyday objects (furniture, fittings, etc.) that combine aesthetics with the enhancement of the wood’s unique features.
- Technical Innovation: Develop a new process or use that valorizes hardwoods with pronounced singularities, which may have altered mechanical properties.
Who Can Apply?
The challenge is open to everyone: artisans, wood industry companies, designers, students, start-ups, researchers, and more.
What You Can Win:
- Two prizes of €7,500 awarded to the winners
- Personalized local support to bring your solution to life
Submit your application before October 12, 2025
Rules, terms, and the application form are available on the official site.
